Understanding Catalog Items (Juniper)
Organize every asset—appliances, fixtures, and more—in one reliable source of truth.
The Catalog lets you store consistent product information across all properties, so homeowners always see the right details and your team can manage warranties and common issues with ease.
How the Catalog Relates to Suites
- Global list, local visibility – The Catalog holds every item across all properties (for example, refrigerators, baseboards, lighting). Homeowners only see items assigned to their suite.
- Property‑specific variations – When an item differs between properties, create a separate Catalog entry for each version (e.g., a Samsung dishwasher in Property A, a Blomberg dishwasher in Property B).
- Shared specifications – Items with identical specs in every building, such as standard baseboards, only need one Catalog entry.
Adding Catalog Items to Suites
Catalog items can be assigned only to suites in the same property. This prevents homeowners from seeing products that don’t apply to their home.
Editing and Updating Catalog Items
The Catalog is the single source of truth. Any change you make—model numbers, dimensions, or typos—updates all suites that use that item.
Item details cannot be edited from an individual suite. Update the Catalog entry instead.
To learn how to edit a catalog item, see the Catalog Overview.
Configuring Rooms and Items During Onboarding
Our onboarding team works with you to decide which items appear in each room. You provide the list (for example, toilet, shower, mirror), and we configure the suites.
The level of detail is customizable:
Setup Style | Benefit |
Detailed (separate sink, faucet, tub) |
More granular reporting |
Simplified ("Bathroom sink & tub") | Easier warranty submissions for homeowners |
Unless you need highly detailed reports, a simplified setup is usually faster for staff and less confusing for homeowners.
Managing Suite-Specific Items
- Add or remove locally – You can add or remove items within a suite, but you can’t edit their details. Edit details in the Catalog only.
- Removal scope – Removing an item from a suite affects that suite only. To remove it everywhere, delete the Catalog entry.
- Suite upgrades – If a unit has upgrades, add the upgraded items manually to that suite.
Best practices
- Keep item names clear and consistent.
- Use separate entries for products that differ by model or finish.
- Review Catalog data regularly for accuracy.
